Workshop Strands
Strand 1 – Library, Digital Citizenship & Technology
Library philosophy & curriculum, reading, writing, digital citizenship, technology, approaches to learning, information & media literacy, publications and more.
Strand 2 – IB Core: EE, TOK, CAS
A one-day workshop for each core subject – Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) & Community Action Service (CAS)
Strand 3 – Teaching English to Multi-Language Learners (ESL/EAL & Classroom Teachers)
EAL Practices to build language development and literacy for multi language learners for EAL Teachers, Language Teachers, and other Educators.
Welcome Address
John Smithies, Deputy Head of American School of Bombay
John Smithies has over 20 years of experience as a leader in two highly regarded international schools, most recently at the American School of Bombay as the Deputy Head of School and Elementary School Principal. Prior to ASB, John spent eleven years as the Elementary School Assistant Principal at the American School of London and was an Elementary school teacher from 1988-2002 in Australia. At ASB, John has built a legacy of change-oriented educators who have a deep commitment to the school’s mission, the values of the International Baccalaureate, and a growing understanding of the place of cultural competencies that respect diversity and inclusion.
John is in his tenth and final year at ASB, having accepted the Head of School position at the American International School of Dhaka from July 2023.
